ps. I needed that too, see how delayed I still am?!?!
Anyway, just thought I'd add to Jon's post and say that I was in the slow group when I lived in CA (early primary school). Mostly because I could never spell--truthfully, I still can't.
Anyway, I wish that I had had early intervention or at least phonics. Because, my brother can spell ANYTHING and he had phonics.
I had Whole spelling or whatever that CA hippy crap was in the early 80s--translation: my mom still has reams and reams of "stories" full of mis-spelled words.
oh, and that reminds me, most of my class was born in 82
which, I think, should make it obvious why we don't entirely connect on everything. How are we supposed to relate when they weren't even alive when I was buying Patty Smyth's the Warrior?

People who were born in '82 are in med school now? I find it disturbing that I might go to a doctor younger than I am. I suppose it had to happen eventually. All the NFL and Olympic athletes have been younger than us for ages. They always make me feel like an underachiever.
Of course, how many of them know how to find out how many NAF students had internships in finance and earned more than $6/hour last summer? None! That's something at least.
Oh - and I had to memorize how to spell everything I can spell. None of those little rules ever worked for me. My sister was a champ at spelling bees. She taught me how to spell tomorrow (tom or row) and I am indebted to her to this day. I don't care if she is five years younger; she'll always be the better speller. I'm ok with that.
