The Original TPB
So, my editor gave me The Princess Bride in novel form back in September and I just finished reading it. (I know, it's horrifying that I didn't jump on it right away but I was in the middle of two other books) Have you guys all read it? I mean it claims to be the William Goldman "abridged version" of Morgenstern's original tale but it's actually the original novel. I LOVE the Zoo of Death and I'm disappointed it wasn't in the movie, but almost all the dialog stays exactly the same, which - considering we seem to change lines in our movie on hourly basis - totally amazes me. And the little fictional asides Goldman includes as his own experiences hearing the book read for the first time as a child are pretty fantastic too. I don't want to say any more because I don't want to ruin anything but if any of you haven't read it, please do. And then start reading it to your kiddies. You won't be disappointed. I'd swear my life on it.

Betsy and I love reading out loud together. We're reading Pride and Predjudice right now. It's so much better than today's romantic comedy junk.
Next two on the list are Tale of Two Cities and Alice in Wonderland. I'll put TPB on after that.

Consider TPB book one of the few that made me laugh outloud! Also in the mix are Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and the Mazzucco 2008 Christmas Card!

um, i totally already have a copy and have read it a few times. no one should be surprised by this as i am the one who came up with our casting for the movie version mo was going to shoot sophomore summer. i still think peter as the albino was my best casting work, followed closely by adin as the R.O.U.S.
You know, I never thought about it before Hursty, but your real life job is a lot like casting - just for sports instead of the greatest movie of all time. Nice one.
And you know, Mo, you're real life job is making movies!

I think Jon's job is more like being an agent for a movie stars, except that he does it for athletes.
Speaking of Jon's job, we were wondering if we'd have to exclude Jon & Hillary from our Christmas card list in about fifteen years. You know, because Caleb would be a big-shot college athlete about to break a dozen records in a BCS bowl game.
What's the rule on that, Jon?
Hopefully by then we'll be sending Christmas cards again.
I'll be praying he doesn't have Josh's ankles.
i won't be able to have contact with caleb or his family members until after the eligibility list is printed following his junior season (if he's as sweet as you say, he'll be coming out after his junior year - sorry guys, he can always finish up his education after he makes his millions). hopefully they are going to change that terrible rule, though, as barely anyone is following it anyway.
by the way, i just about had a heart attack the other day. my TPB DVD is missing. i felt like i was in the pit of despair, having just had 5 years of my life sucked away. i hope it doesn't one day go as high as ten, because i really don't know what that would do to me.
I read TPB years ago and remember really enjoying it and wishing a few things had been included in the movie, but I can't recall the specifics now. The only thing, I think, I can remember was a very odd description of Buttercup's birth and childhood. Obviously I need to reread it, although it will have to wait until I finish War and Peace.
Caleb had kind of tapered off there for a while in terms of growth spurts and his ravenous appetite. However, recently the kid has really been packing it away, so I'm thinking tight end or inside linebacker. As for the ankles, and general athletic ability, the hope is that it just skipped a generation. My dad was all-state in high school and played college ball. Jill's brother also had several scholarship offers. Of course, all of this means that he'll probably be 6'6" and 240lb., will eat us out of house and home, and then be really passionate about bowling.
Or will want nothing more than to read the writings of Augustine.
And say, "I'm not in the mood."
Hey, we're a multi-talented family. He can read Augustine and play football.
Do you think he'll get a perm in 7th grade?
