Rob, I need some Stanford Intel

Bubba (Rob)
Jay suggested that I contact you, but I don't have your contact info. I need to get to Stanford from Birmingham (yay!)...this is going to be easy (right.), I can tell...especially since I'm really not sure which airport to fly into (SFO?) and whether I should rent a car, ride a train, etc? Could you please give me some advice?
Thanks, dude.
Forest.

I've never tried to take BART so I can't recommend the train. As with most things here in CA, driving is the easiest way to get to Stanford from the airports. A couple other airports that you might consider in case they're cheaper: San Jose and Oakland. San Jose and SFO are your best bets. I'd rent a car and all you have to do is hop onto 101 and exit at either University or Embarcadero. The 101 does get very congested during rush hour so try and time your arrival and departure with that in mind. If you like shopping, the Stanford mall is a great mall with good restaurants and very close to the main part of campus. You can email me at "firstname"@"lastname".net and I'll give you all my contact info if you need more detailed info (or just want to chat). I'll even rope Randy into giving me more information if I need it since he lived there for 5 years! What are you coming for - a medical conference?

I'm coming to interview for residency...which means that it's possible, pig, that we could live in Palo Alto for 4 years.

(pig comment only for Jonathan's inclusive feelings...no offense intended.)

I WILL email you...to say thanks!

BART is a nightmare.
But renting a car from SFO is, also... it's 1/2 hour train ride to the rental facility. My recommendation: take a cab to an off-airport rental place.

And when I email Rob at firstname@lastname.net, it just bounces back.

What happened to the website "lastname.net?" I used to enjoy reading 10-year-old news about Rob's family. Definitely no comparison to lauraandlincoln.com, though.
