Gmail accounts

So if I understand Kevin correctly, you all need Google accounts before the blog can be switched. I can send invitations to everyone for a Gmail account (which is Google). Then you can use that to sign on and transfer your old blogger account to the new Gmail address. The only downside is that you can't comment using the new Gmail account until the BLD blog is switched to the new Blogger.

Doug, does that seem right to you? I'll go ahead and send invitations to everyone from Gmail in case you'd like to try switching your blogger account (or if you just want to use Gmail).

Yes, everyone has to (eventually) switch to using a Google account, BUT you don't need to have set up a Google account beforehand. If you don't already have a Google account it will take you through the steps to create one.

As for the blog itself, I think it will switch when Kevin switches, since he's the original creator (is that right?). Once the blog switches, you won't be able to post until you yourself switch.

They're only letting so many people switch at any given time because they don't want to overwhelm their servers. If you don't see a link to switch on the Blogger homepage or on your dashboard, just try again a bit later.
