1) Congratulations, Kristin. That is exceptional news.
2) Happy Birthday, Rob - one day late, as always. Oh well. It's the belated thought that counts, right?
3) Congratulations to Doug and those silly Canucks for winning the world championship in hockey. too bad we may not be seeing any NHL games for quite some time though.

Congratulations Kristin!! That's awesome! Hope medical school is going well for you. You can tease them all that you're already a doctor...but that might not be the best way to make lots of friends.

Caleb had to go to the emergency room again this week. (He's fine.) Nine months old, two visits to the ER and he hasn't even started walking yet. Yikes. Josh says I have to get used to it because a) he's a boy and b) he's a Papsdorf. Apparently, Papsdorf men go to the emergency room a lot.

We just spent the afternoon with Rob and Devon, Ryan and Bo and Devon's mom and stepdad in New Jersey. Rob and Josh amused each other with stories of Lincoln (and other college antics). We hear they visited the Mazzuccos yesterday. Aidan went from crawling to walking in 60 seconds...It made us wish we could see them more often.

Kevin? Aren't you on vacation? Shouldn't we be hearing from you about the new place?

Hi there,
I finished my Ph.D. officially yesterday--got final approval of my revisions. It's quite a load off and I'm hoping to enjoy life a bit more now.
Hope everyone is doing well.
Miss you,
Kristin

Hey Douglay. I was watching that domination of the Yankees. Unfortunately, the Indians have been soundly beaten in the two games that followed, but it was fun while it lasted. Any time you can smack the Yanks around and piss off George Steinbrenner, even if it is short-lived, is well worth it. How are things with you?

Have a great Labor Day weekend, everyone.

Jon, I hope you were watching the beating that the Yankees absorbed last night.

I was flipping between that and Canada's win over the United States in World Cup hockey. That game was nowhere near as close as the score indicates. I'm really hoping Esche doesn't repeat Richter's performance from 1996.

Doug- what brought on this insomnia? Have you been depressed about the recent Indians' losing streak? I recall the days (or should I say nights) during our sophomore year in Wheelock in which I would lay awake tossing and turning while you click-click-clicked on your mouse into the wee hours. Then when you finally decided to retire to bed, you would fall asleep - literally - within seconds, which really annoyed me. Here's hoping that you soon return to your halcyon days of quasi-narcolepsy.

Insomnia sucks.

Wow -- you are old, Kristin. But at least you can hide it. Nothing says beyond old to a new college grad like a baby on your hip.

Not that I'd trade him for the world. If I ever need a laugh, I can just fake sneeze in his face and he cracks up (which always makes me crack up, too).

Of course, Josh is going to see even older than you do when he stands up in front of a class of freshman at Fordham and starts spouting about Faith and Critical Reasoning and (horror of horror) correct punctuation, grammar and spelling! Yes, Josh will officially be Professor Papsdorf two weeks from today. We predict an astounding leap in higher education will soon follow.

FYI: there is nothing funnier:

Oh! and get this, to hammer the age difference home again. I was telling a student in my class that my husband is younger than I am and that he graduated in 2000 and she kindly bubbled that she graduated *highschool* then.

Oh Man,
I am SO jealous of you vacationers. I'm already in my third week of medical school, wondering when I'll get time to finish these dissertation revisions. This is the craziest summer of all time. Not as crazy as chasing newborns or anything--but, I am jealous of that too! I must say, though, I'm not a huge fan of Bama just yet. I'll keep you posted, but basically, having no friends and having the average age of my class as 22.6 isn't working for me. I'm homesick and lonely. So, I'm willing to host any visitor who might find themselves in Dixie.
Miss you all.

Haha. I have seen "This Land." I've watched it several times, and chuckle every time I see it. What is your favorite part? Mine is probably when Hillary slaps Bill, prompting Bill to say incredulously, "What'd I do?"

I love those CitiBank commercials.

You've probably already seen it, but in case you haven't, check out This Land. Be aware there is a bit of swearing. It's one of the funniest things I've seen in a while.

My weekly poker game has propelled me onto the internet at PokerStars. Have no fear, I am not playing for real money. My screen name is hoser98, if any of you feel like giving it a try.

Oh, and if you have any kind of video game system, go buy Beyond Good & Evil. It's amazing. In fact, I'm going to play it right now.

I am jealous of your trip to Hawaii.  That sounds like fun.  I  just talked with Adin the other day, although our conversation was cut short because Lindsey and I were having trouble finding a parking spot for the They Might Be Giants concert we were attending.  But Adin seemed to be doing well.  Definitely tell her I said hello.

We don't have any volunteers for the New Year's bash this year?  We need some better attendance.  Yes, I know that I missed two years ago.  But that was a last-minute recruiting trip to Ohio State.  And yes, I realize that I don't have any children and you all do.  But all your kids are going to be brainiacs anyway, so you might as well start them traveling and learning about the world early.

I am still living in a tiny apartment (I'll be there for one more year due to proximity to where I coach), but I'll have a house by next fall if things work out the way I am planning, so Cleveland could always be an option a couple New Years from now.

We should rename this Blog JJ for Jonathan and Jill since we dominate the postings.
